dramaturgy

From fixed texts to new plays, my dramaturgical training and experience has allowed me to work in various modes of production. Whether it’s cutting and adapting classic writers like Shakespeare (The Tragedy of Coriolanus, Shakespeare Repertory Project, 2025), workshopping new plays (The Demon in Me, New Play Lab, 2024;What Rough Beast, Carlotta Festival of New Plays, 2026), or dramaturging for full productions (The Colored Museum, Umbrella Stage Company, 2022; Notes on Killing Seven Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Board Members, Yale Rep, 2025), my skills help refine dramaturgical understanding for all artists involved.

My research-based approach to dramaturgy gives me the flexibility needed to work on a wide range of productions. Diving into the contexts (cultural, linguistic, historical, etc.) of the plays I work on helps me understand their full significance, which in turn helps me to unlock new layers of meaning for artists and audiences alike. For works with particular sociopolitical or ethnic significance outside of my direct experience, I take a solidarity-based approach to collaboration, emphasizing the interconnectedness of marginalization while fostering dialogue that prioritizes the knowledge of experienced collaborators.
